Habitat for Smallmouth Bass, Merrymeeting Lake, NH Part 1



10 years ago I started pulling sunken logs off of the bottom of our cove and piling them up to make structure for bass to use for cover. I made sure that the piles did not get less than about 5 ft from the surface so they wouldn’t interfere with boat traffic. In my opinion the number of large smallmouth bass has greatly increased in our immediate area. I built 3 large piles of logs in an angled array, approx. 30 feet from one another. The video shows the fish life that has developed at one of the structures.
